There's no place like home.

Every item that I create is a reflection of the beauty and inspiration that surrounds me. From my window, I am constantly inspired by the breathtaking views of the mountains, the eagles soaring high in the sky, the playful squirrels running up and down the trees, and the many small birds that come to feast near the window. My products are crafted in Alaska, on the stunning coast, which is located four hours south of our largest city. The natural beauty of this place gives me endless ideas for my products. As I create, I am immersed in the sights and sounds of the wilderness, which further fuels my creativity and passion for my craft.

About Me.

When I was only a few days old I was hospitalized, I had quit breathing and was given rescue breaths on the way. I have had trouble breathing my whole life, which led to me not breathing at night and age five having my tonsils and adenoids removed. During this, I aspirated my blood and ended up in the hospital longer than expected. I was always active, I loved being outside and playing with my dog and friends, and I loved school. But something changed that I couldn't anymore, and I was taken to the ER a few times just to be told that I needed psychiatric help. I lost most of my friends, i became mostly home bound, and I had to stop my activities. At around the age of eight, my parents took me to Chicago for biopsies where we could be with family, however, the doctors found nothing. Soon, back in Alaska I was diagnosed with chronic Lyme. Then later on, towards the end of  high school, POTS, ICP, PCOS, ADHD, OCD, Anxiety, and Depression.

What are my health conditions?

PCOS

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. The name is pretty self-explanatory, but I will explain... It means that I get cysts and polyps in my ovaries and uterus. It is fairly common and is very uncomfortable, the cysts can be painful at any time without warning but it's typically cycle-related. It can cause weight loss, or weight gain, diabetes, infertility, irregularity, nausea, and headaches. It also causes high testosterone levels which cause a whole other landslide of problems. I was given pain medication from my doctor for it, a ketorolac shot as needed. However, pain medications are not good for POTS and worsened my POTS symptoms for that day.

POTS

Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. Having POTS means that I am allergic to gravity and in a constant state of extreme exhaustion. I would compare the exhaustion to traveling on a plane for over twenty-four hours, plus layovers, with a cold and jetlag. That sounds a little dramatic, but I don’t think that it’s even close. You see… When you have POTS, you become sodium deficient, sodium is essential in making your body work in the way that it is meant to. And it causes circulatory issues, meaning that not enough blood and oxygen get to my brain and heart as necessary. Causing my heart to race and choke itself off from blood flow, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, headaches, and sore throat.

ICP

Increased Intracranial Pressure. Having ICP means that I have too much spinal fluid and too much fluid around my brain, which makes treatments for my other disorders difficult because a lot of things can set off the spinal pressure production such as salt. Salt I need for POTS, but a lot of salt contains a lot of magnesium and the products for people with POTS are high in magnesium. Magnesium is bad for ICP because it is known to interfere with neurological pathways.

Lyme

Chronic Lyme disease... Myth: You only get Lyme from ticks. Fact: You can get Lyme from almost any type of biting insect or animal, contaminated food, or inherit it from your mother when in the womb. Lyme disease is a complex condition that can be contracted through a variety of methods. I am uncertain how I came to be infected, but it is possible that I contracted it from a tick bite, as these insects are present in Alaska where I live. Alternatively, I may have contracted the disease while drinking raw milk which caused me to contract campylobacter. Lyme disease is known to cause a rash that often has a bull's-eye pattern, accompanied by flu-like symptoms. Joint pain and weakness in the limbs are also common. Appropriate antibiotic treatment can lead to a full recovery for most people. However, some individuals may develop syndromes even after successful treatment, which can cause further pain and discomfort. In such cases, pain medication may provide relief. In my experience, antibiotics did not help, and I was not given any pain medication. Despite the challenging symptoms, I remain hopeful for a full recovery from this illness. I frequently develop rashes on my face, arms, and legs, and if I overexert myself, I may experience flu-like symptoms, including nausea and vomiting. It is essential to be cautious in daily activities to avoid contracting Lyme disease, and to seek medical attention if any symptoms arise. It is an infection that attacks the vital organs and rarely shows up in bloodwork, and has been known to cause heart attacks.

"Sea salt is rich in sodium, which plays a crucial role in maintaining brain, muscle, and nervous system function. However, it’s not just about sodium. Sea salt also contains small amounts of other minerals like magnesium, calcium, and potassium. These trace elements contribute to overall health and well-being."
